Shipcontroller Dynamic Positioning System
We have been silent for a long time. But that wasn't because we were inactive... we have been working hard expanding Shipcontroller's features and capabilities, to keep it the most advanced wireless remote control system on the market.
Now we would like to tell you about our Shipcontroller's dynamic positioning system.
DPS systems allow a ship to keep its position and heading, within certain margins of error. Initially they were used in special vessels, such as drill ships, platforms, etc. They had a very high cost, given their complexity. In the recreational boating market they were virtually unknown.
But there are numerous occasions when a DPS system is useful for the skipper of a recreational boat: waiting to refuel, preparing moorings, picking up fenders, preparing the anchoring maneuver... particularly when the crew is reduced or they are inexperienced.
Now, thanks to the improvement in the precision and reliability of GNSS satellite positioning systems and digital processors, proprietary DPS systems linked to specific manufacturers have emerged in recent years that offered a specific solution for their engine control systems.
Shipcontroller DPS is, by contrast, a general purpose system, applicable to most propulsion configurations and engines and thrusters control systems on the market.
Shipcontroller DPS works effectively on compatible ships with azimuthal thrusters (those where the propeller can be steered on a vertical axis), shaft or stern drives, or proportional or on/off thrusters.
